Discover the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle, a unique retreat that offers an intimate nature experience and exceptional service.
Overview of Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle
During my birthday trip to the Golden Triangle, I spent four nights at the Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle. This place is unlike any traditional Four Seasons hotel, featuring a secluded location and unique tent-style accommodations. I truly loved the distinctiveness of this resort — from the excellent service and delicious food to the one-of-a-kind outdoor spa. Most importantly, you get the chance to interact closely with elephants in a very humane way.
About the Resort
Located near Chiang Rai, Thailand, the Four Seasons Tented Camp is part of a luxury hotel group, with room rates typically around $3,000 per night. Prices can vary by season, with peak tourist season running from November to February. If you're traveling in April like I did, be prepared for the sweltering heat.
However, the upside is that the room rates include numerous amenities, from airport transfers to complimentary meals (excluding premium drinks). Each guest also enjoys a 90-minute spa treatment and many other exciting complimentary activities like the 'My Elephant & I' experience or hiking Wang Lao Mountain.
Getting to Four Seasons Golden Triangle
The easiest way to reach this resort is to fly into Chiang Rai Airport. The hotel arranges thoughtful pickup services. Upon my arrival, I was greeted by a Four Seasons staff member who took me to a dock where I boarded a Four Seasons-branded long-tail boat to the hotel. This journey was delightful and made the trip even more special.
Welcome at the Resort
At the resort, we were welcomed with a charming ceremony that included a refreshing drink and cold towels. It felt like we were in the midst of a true safari adventure, surrounded by breathtaking landscapes.

Design of the Four Seasons Tented Camp
The resort spans over 300 acres of hillside along the Ruak River. Although there aren’t many tents, the space is very expansive. The central area features an open reception where you can easily find assistance from the staff. Notably, there are classic Land Rover vehicles that traverse the resort, making transportation very convenient.
Activities and Experiences
At the Four Seasons Tented Camp, a variety of exciting activities await you. If you love nature and animals, don’t miss out on the elephant experiences or hiking along the trails. Additionally, there are standout experiences like swimming in the outdoor pool with stunning views.
Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers
Regarding visas, Vietnamese citizens do not need a visa for stays in Thailand under 30 days. Flight prices from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) to Chiang Rai (CEI) typically range from 2,500,000 to 4,000,000 VND, depending on when you book. Also, check the current exchange rate and prepare some cash for use in local areas.
Before making your reservation, remember to check for promotions from travel agents affiliated with Four Seasons, as you might score enticing offers like room upgrades or reward points.
Conclusion
The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle offers a unique experience that you will find hard to forget. While there are a few areas for improvement, the blend of nature and attentive service makes this a worthwhile destination. Get ready for an experience that’s not just a getaway but also a thrilling adventure in the Golden Triangle region.
