A Revolution in Hyatt's Rewards Program

Big changes are coming to Hyatt's rewards program! This May, Hyatt will replace its current three-tier award pricing system with a new five-tier model, introducing new award categories: Lowest, Low, Medium, High, and Highest. While Hyatt continues to offer eight different types of hotels and separate award charts for all-inclusive resorts and Miraval properties, this new tier structure means that the point costs for many of their premium resorts will increase significantly.

Honestly, these changes will make some of my favorite stays less appealing during peak seasons. That’s why I’ve put together a list of 10 Hyatt hotels that you should consider booking before these changes take effect in May.

1. Alila Ventana Big Sur

At Alila Ventana Big Sur, you can completely unwind in the serene surroundings of California. Every stay here includes meals and non-alcoholic beverages. However, the award pricing is on the rise. Previously, you could book during peak season for 45,000 points, but now the top tier has skyrocketed to 75,000 points. If you’re planning to visit in the summer or early fall, be prepared for this new price.

Experiencing Andaz Maui is the perfect blend of luxury and style. The dining options here, including the breakfast buffet and poolside snacks, are truly highlights. With the upcoming changes to Hyatt's award chart, a night here could cost you up to 75,000 points during peak season, compared to the previous maximum of 45,000 points. Keep this in mind if you plan to visit in the summer or early fall.

Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, one of my favorite ski hotels, is located in Colorado. With its prime location and endless activities like ice skating, shopping, and dining, this resort offers a truly authentic getaway. The premium room prices can reach 75,000 points, a significant increase from the previous peak price of 45,000 points.

Like other hotels, the premium room prices here can go up to 75,000 points, compared to 45,000 points previously.

Park Hyatt Tokyo stands out with its refined Japanese design, located between the 29th and 52nd floors of the Shinjuku skyscraper. With luxurious guest rooms and a culinary program rich in Japanese flavors, this hotel offers a wonderful retreat. A night here now requires 75,000 points instead of the previous 45,000 points.

7. Impression Moxche by Secrets

You can use Hyatt points for a fantastic all-inclusive getaway at Impression Moxche by Secrets. This luxurious beachfront resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico, offers an incredible experience. Nightly rates can go up to 85,000 points, compared to the previous peak of 58,000 points. Expect prices to rise during busy travel seasons like winter holidays and summer.

8. Miraval Austin Resort and Spa

Miraval Austin provides a relaxing and restorative atmosphere for guests. This elegant resort features chic guest rooms and wellness-focused amenities. The price for a night during peak season can now reach 75,000 points, an increase from the previous 50,000 points.

9. Alila Kothaifaru Maldives

If you dream of a trip to the Maldives, consider Alila Kothaifaru Maldives. This destination boasts private villas surrounded by stunning natural beauty. A night here will cost you 55,000 points, up from the previous maximum of 35,000 points. We can expect prices to rise during the dry season in the Maldives from December to April.

10. Great Scotland Yard Hotel

For history enthusiasts, the Great Scotland Yard Hotel is the perfect spot. This hotel is steeped in London’s history, named after the street where the Metropolitan Police Headquarters is located and where Jack the Ripper was once interrogated.
