Air Canada has opened new cafés in Montreal and Vancouver, bringing the total to six locations. This innovative model allows passengers to enjoy quick snacks before their flights.
Overview of Air Canada Cafe
If you're looking for a relaxing space before your flight without wasting too much time, Air Canada has introduced a fantastic solution with its unique café model. Air Canada Cafe is a fresh concept rolled out at major airports, where you can quickly enjoy beverages or snacks before boarding your flight.
New Café at Vancouver Airport
Recently, Air Canada opened its second café at Vancouver Airport. Located in the domestic departure area, at Concourse C near Gate 50, the café has a seating capacity of 84 and spans 4,489 square feet. It’s an ideal spot for passengers with limited time who still want to savor delicious food.
The café features a coffee bar with drinks crafted by baristas, local craft beers, and wines. The diverse menu includes hot char siu bao, vegetarian bao, freshly made vegetarian kimbap, and sweet treats from the famous Lee’s Donuts on Granville Island.
New Café at Montreal Airport
Simultaneously, Air Canada has launched its second café at Montreal Airport, located in the U.S. Preclearance area. With 62 seats, this is the second Air Canada café at this airport, alongside another in the domestic departure area.

This café draws inspiration from Montreal's third-wave coffee culture, featuring classic dishes such as smoked meat sandwiches, fresh bagels, vegetarian soup crafted by Sagamité Watso, and hazelnut croissants. Beverages include wines from L’Orpailleur winery, gin from Distillerie du Fjord, and craft beers from RJ Brasseur brewery in Montreal.
Access to the Cafés
These cafés are not just open to anyone; they prioritize business class passengers, Star Alliance Gold members, premium Aeroplan co-brand cardholders, and Aeroplan members with 50K, 75K, and Super Elite status. This truly makes the space feel more exclusive.
The Future of Airport Cafés
Airport lounges have seen significant developments in recent years, particularly in how they generate revenue. This not only allows more people to access lounges but also creates a more familiar atmosphere. However, when “everyone has access,” sometimes the serene ambiance of the lounge is not what it used to be.
If you’re just looking for a quiet place to wait, the gate area is often a better choice. So for me, if I don’t really need food or drinks, I usually head straight to the gate for efficiency.
Conclusion
With the launch of Air Canada Cafés in Montreal and Vancouver, the airline's café network has increased to six locations. This is indeed an impressive step forward in their effort to provide the best experience for passengers. Air Canada is truly leading the way in this area, and I’m excited about this innovative café model.
