Looking for a tasty cendol in Petaling Jaya? Visit Sistars Kitchen for a refreshing cendol experience and a surprising dish of chee cheong fun.
Sistars Kitchen – A Cendol Paradise
Tucked away in an apartment complex in Petaling Jaya, Sistars Kitchen is one of the hidden gems at Happy Mansion. From the outside, it doesn’t look like much with its simple plastic chairs and folding tables, and there’s no sign—just a small red sticker on the window that hints at the cendol-making area inside. But once you step in, you’re in for a treat with one of the best shaved ice desserts in the area.
On the Tuesday morning I visited, the place was quite empty except for two older gentlemen enjoying their ABC and chatting lively. The weekends can get busier, especially in this hot weather.
Cendol – A Signature Delight
If I had to choose between cendol and ABC, I’d definitely go for cendol. Some Google reviews mention that the portion is a bit small, but I found it to be just right for one person. Most places serve ABC in huge portions that many diners can’t finish, but the cendol here is perfectly sized.
The cendol (RM6.50) is visually appealing, topped with shaved ice, green rice jelly, and a scoop of sweet red beans. It’s not overly sweet, and the flavor of gula melaka adds a pleasant caramel touch. The toppings are just enough, allowing me to savor each ingredient in every spoonful.
Importantly, the coconut milk isn’t too rich, which keeps the flavors intact. I really appreciated this, as many places make cendol too creamy, which can overpower the freshness. I ended up finishing about 90% of this dish, which is impressive considering I was dining solo.

A Fresh Take on Chee Cheong Fun
The next dish I tried was the Choy Pou Chee Cheong Fun (RM6.30). It may sound a bit extravagant, but this chee cheong fun has changed my life. Previously, I only tried the regular chee cheong fun in KL, which is usually served with sweet black sauce and a bit of chili sauce.
I ordered this dish without knowing what to expect, simply craving chee cheong fun. When it arrived, I was surprised to see it covered in a mysterious creamy sauce, sprinkled generously with fried shallots. Alongside was a bowl of chili sauce and some slices of green chili. Initially, I thought it might be dry due to the lack of sauce, but that was not the case.
With the first bite, I was truly amazed at how much flavor this colorful dish contained. The texture of the fried shallots and choy pou blended perfectly with the soft rice rolls. The shallots added a hint of sweetness that complemented the salty notes of the pickled vegetables.
If you prefer a spicy kick, you can mix in some chili sauce, but I didn’t feel the need as the dish was already so delicious.
Final Thoughts
I’m not usually a breakfast person. In fact, I can typically only manage a slice of bread before 10 AM. However, this chee cheong fun was so good that I cleaned my bowl—each final spoonful was a bittersweet moment of satisfaction.
Seating here is quite limited, so it’s best to avoid coming in large groups. You can also take your food to go, but I recommend enjoying the cendol and ABC here for the freshest experience. Parking can be tricky as the space is limited, and you’ll be competing with others dining at nearby eateries and cafes.
After my meal, I thought about bringing my whole family here. The food was truly outstanding, and the owner was incredibly friendly. He greeted each customer with a cheerful “good morning” and a smile. When I inquired, he mentioned that this choy pou chee cheong fun is unique to their shop, giving me even more reason to return.
