We recently stumbled upon a brand new spot on Amoy Street called Smash Street. This restaurant is part of the renowned Scarpetta group and is famous for its giant, delicious burgers served in a cozy atmosphere. The most recognizable feature of the place is its deep green awning, which makes it stand out among the many other eateries in the area.

I had the chance to try some of their signature burgers before they officially opened on April 3rd. Smash Street features an open kitchen design, allowing diners to watch the chefs in action as they prepare the food, adding an exciting visual element to the culinary experience. However, the seating is quite limited, with most orders being takeout.

Top-Notch Burger Quality

Each beef patty here is handcrafted, with ingredients sourced from around the globe. The team has gone through numerous trials to perfect their patties, even using the bottom of a wine glass to shape them! I sampled both of the restaurant's main offerings: the Classic Burger (14 SGD) and the House Burger (17 SGD), paired with fries (6 SGD) and Chicken Poppers with spicy Aioli dip (10 SGD).

Starting with the Classic Burger, the bun made from potato flour is crispy and fragrant, encasing two beef patties and a layer of cheese inside. For just 14 SGD, this burger is quite massive and easy to bite into due to its soft and chewy texture. The beef patty is smoky and tender, just as I had hoped.

Special Toppings

When I tried the House Burger, I noticed it comes with the option of free cucumbers or jalapeños, along with additional toppings like onions (2 SGD) or bacon (3 SGD). The biggest difference between the two main burgers is that the House Burger features an extra patty, totaling three beef patties and an additional slice of cheese. I opted for the jalapeños, and they added just the right amount of tanginess, perfectly complementing the sweetness of the three patties.

A Simple Yet Tempting Menu

While the menu isn't extensive, the flavors truly shine. The Chicken Poppers with spicy Aioli offer a delightful crunch, paired with a dipping sauce that's just the right balance of flavor and a touch of acidity—something I absolutely loved. With only two burger options, Smash Street has firmly established itself as a must-try burger joint.
