Exploring the Primeclass Lounge at Charles De Gaulle Airport

This year, I embarked on an exciting journey to Bangkok with a layover in Paris. Before boarding my flight to Bangkok, I had the chance to visit the Primeclass Lounge at Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG). Located in Terminal 2A-2C, this lounge isn't part of the Priority Pass network but is utilized by several airlines.

Finding the Lounge

Once you pass through security, you’ll see signs directing you to various lounges, including the American Admirals Club, Emirates Lounge, and Primeclass Lounge. Just follow the signs, and you’ll find an elevator and stairs leading up to the upper level, where the lounges are situated.

Opening Hours

The Primeclass Lounge operates daily from 6 AM to 9:30 PM. However, hours may vary depending on flight schedules. While it wasn’t overly crowded during my visit, I still felt that it could enhance my waiting time.

Access Requirements

It was quite inconvenient that the lounge doesn’t participate in the Priority Pass program. The airline I flew with, Aircalin, also uses this lounge. When I arrived at the entrance at 5:40 PM, I was denied entry because I arrived too early. I was told to come back in 12 minutes, but when I returned, I was asked to wait an additional 15 minutes. This process felt a bit frustrating and dragged on.

Design and Ambiance

The Primeclass Lounge reopened in 2024, previously known as the Etihad Lounge since 2013. As a result, the design hasn’t changed much. The space is approximately 620 square meters and is quite spacious, featuring rows of seating facing each other and a dining area with a bar. However, the atmosphere feels a bit dated and lacks proper maintenance.

Seating Area and Amenities

The seating here is quite basic, although there are some tables for comfortable seating. Additionally, there’s a play area for children. However, I felt the lounge lacked proper upkeep, with limited power outlets, many of which were not functional.

Cuisine and Beverages

The lounge offers a variety of self-service food and drinks. The menu includes salads, cold cuts, cheeses, and a few hot dishes such as basmati rice, lemon chicken, and vegetables. I found the meal to be decent—nothing exceptional, but enough to get by.

Restrooms and Showers

When you enter the lounge and turn right, you’ll find the restroom area. There are also a few shower facilities, but they seemed underutilized. The prayer room, a remnant from the Etihad days, also appeared to be not frequently used.

Conclusion on the Primeclass Lounge

The Primeclass Lounge at Charles De Gaulle Airport isn’t the ideal spot for relaxation. The design is outdated, and the food services are merely average. It serves as a temporary waiting area rather than a memorable experience. If you don’t have pressing matters, you can stop by, but I wouldn’t recommend arriving too early just to access this lounge.
