The Flying Blue program by Air France-KLM makes it easy to earn miles from various airlines. Here's everything you need to know!
An Overview of the Flying Blue Program
I recently joined the Flying Blue program by Air France-KLM, and I’m really excited about it! This program collaborates with Air France, KLM, and Transavia, allowing you to accumulate miles when flying with these airlines.
When you fly, you can add your Flying Blue membership number to earn not just miles but also Experience Points (XP) to achieve different status levels. Once you reach a status level, you can enjoy many attractive benefits when flying with partner airlines.
Partner Airlines
The great thing is that I can earn miles not just from Air France or KLM but also from many other airlines. These airlines mainly belong to the SkyTeam alliance, such as Delta and Virgin Atlantic. Additionally, there are several non-alliance partners, including:
- Air Corsica
- Air Mauritius
- Bangkok Airways
- Malaysia Airlines
- Qantas
Before your flight, be sure to check the partner page on the Flying Blue website for detailed information. Notably, there may be various conditions applicable when you want to earn or use your miles.
Status Levels in Flying Blue
Flying Blue offers four status levels: Silver, Gold, Platinum, and Ultimate. Silver is the entry-level and requires you to accumulate 100 XP. Benefits at this level include:
✈️ Tìm chuyến bay giá tốt
Đặt vé ngay với giá ưu đãi từ các hãng hàng không
- Earning 6 miles for every euro spent.
- Free seat selection.
- Priority check-in, baggage drop, and boarding.
The Gold level requires an additional 180 XP. In addition to the Silver benefits, Gold members enjoy:
- Earning 7 miles for every euro spent.
- Access to SkyTeam lounges on international flights.
Platinum requires an additional 300 XP and includes all Gold benefits plus:
- Earning 8 miles for every euro spent.
- A dedicated hotline for Platinum members.
Finally, the Ultimate level requires up to 900 XP in one year and offers the most attractive benefits.
How to Earn Experience Points
You can earn XP by flying and spending on your credit card. XP is accumulated based on flight distance and class of service. The more you fly, the more XP you earn. Here’s a breakdown of XP based on flight type:
- Economy Class: 2 XP for domestic flights and 5 XP for short international flights.
- Business Class: 6 XP for domestic flights and 15 XP for short international flights.
Keep in mind that these XP levels can vary depending on the distance of your flight and the class you choose.
Why Join the Flying Blue Program?
With this program, I find the biggest benefit is the ease and flexibility of earning miles while flying with different airlines. Additionally, the ability to earn points from credit card spending is a huge plus. I’m genuinely excited about the destinations I can explore thanks to the miles I accumulate.
If you're looking for a quality program to earn miles, Flying Blue is definitely a must-try!
