Exploring Jiuzhaigou: Your Essential Guide
If you're looking to soak in the natural beauty of China, Jiuzhaigou is an absolute must-visit. Nestled in Sichuan Province, this stunning reserve is renowned for its crystal-clear turquoise lakes, cascading waterfalls, and snow-capped peaks. However, due to its breathtaking scenery and popularity, thousands of tourists flock here daily. During peak season, the park limits entry to approximately 41,000 people each day, so meticulous planning is essential before your trip.
Getting from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou
My journey from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou was smooth yet a tad nerve-wracking. I thought I could snag a train ticket just a day before departure, but that was not the case. The 6:15 AM train sold out quickly, forcing me to take the 8:35 AM train, which cut into my sightseeing time. Luckily, I still had ample opportunity to marvel at Jiuzhaigou's highlights.
By High-Speed Train
The quickest and most convenient way to reach Jiuzhaigou is by taking a high-speed train from Chengdu East Station to Huanglong-Jiuzhai Station. This journey takes about two hours. Be sure to book your train and Jiuzhaigou entry tickets at least three days in advance, as they sell out fast. From the station, you can walk to the bus terminal where drivers will guide you to Jiuzhaigou.
By Bus
If you're looking to save some money, taking a bus from Chengdu is also an option. The bus ride lasts approximately 8 to 10 hours and departs from either Xinnanmen or Chadianzi bus stations. Make sure you purchase a ticket that goes all the way to Jiuzhaigou Valley and not just to Jiuzhaigou County, as the latter is further away.
