Just arrived in the Dolomites, the stunning mountain region in Italy, I felt like I had stepped into a breathtaking natural painting. This 7-day journey will take you to unmissable destinations!
Starting Your Journey in the Dolomites
Upon arriving in the Dolomites, the beautiful mountain region in northeastern Italy, I felt like I had entered a magnificent natural painting. Nestled near the border with Austria and part of the Southern Alps, this area is one of the most stunning natural spots I have ever seen in Europe. It's no wonder everyone is constantly snapping photos; the scenery is simply dreamlike!
I embarked on a memorable 7-day trip and couldn't help but share the top destinations I explored. For easier travel, I highly recommend renting a car to effortlessly discover the beautiful sights here.
Day 1: Arrival in Venice
On the first day, we flew in the morning to Venice, one of the most beautiful cities in Italy. After picking up our rental car, we began our journey to Lago di Carezza, our first stop on this adventure.
On the way, don't forget to stop in Belluno to enjoy some local cuisine and perhaps grab some snacks for the road. Upon reaching Lago di Carezza, just gazing at the emerald green water shimmering amid the mountains filled my heart with joy. From the parking area, you can take a short walk through an underpass to reach the lake—be sure to take a stroll around the lake if time permits!
Where to Stay in Ortisei
I chose Ortisei as my base and found Casa al Sole, a charming little hotel right in the center with complimentary breakfast. From here, accessing various attractions is very convenient. Remember, if you plan to visit during the summer, make sure to book in advance as it gets quite busy!

Day 2: Exploring Seceda
Waking up early, I quickly hopped on the cable car to Seceda, one of the most photographed spots in the Dolomites. Surrounded by vast landscapes and steep cliffs, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty of the mountains here.
At Seceda, you can leisurely sip coffee at a refugio while soaking in the breathtaking views. I opted for a circular walk at the foot of the Geisler Peaks, where lush green fields and traditional wooden houses abound. Be sure to pack a picnic lunch or try the delicious Kaiserschmarrn and hot chocolate available here!
Day 3: Seiser Alm
On the third day, I visited Seiser Alm, the highest plateau in Europe. Just taking the cable car there revealed the bright beauty of the distant hills and mountains. This area boasts many stunning walking paths, and I chose a 4.4 km loop back from the cable car station.
Before leaving Seiser Alm, don’t forget to wander around the beautiful town of Ortisei, with its vibrant cafes and trendy shops. This is the perfect spot to indulge in some of the best food the Dolomites have to offer!
Day 4: Discovering Sella Ronda
On the fourth day, I continued driving to explore the Sella Ronda Loop, where breathtaking scenery awaits at every turn. Each bend brings fresh experiences and unforgettable moments. Stepping into this land, I felt like I had entered a completely different world, immersed in nature.
With a route encircling the majestic mountain range, you can admire breathtaking peaks and enjoy the fresh mountain air. This place is not only visually stunning but also a fantastic stop for outdoor enthusiasts.
Final Thoughts
While each day brought different experiences, the feeling of being enveloped in the beauty of the Dolomites provided a unique sense of peace. From the turquoise lakes and majestic mountains to the mesmerizing walking trails, I truly regretted leaving this enchanting place. This journey gifted me memories I will cherish forever.
