Year-End Escapade in Da Lat: Pine Forests, Smoke, and Cool Breezes
As 2025 came to a close, I found myself wandering in Da Lat, a dreamy mountain town enveloped in the rich scent of pine and surrounded by swirling white mist. It’s a place that lightens the spirit. I embarked on a familiar camping trip in the lush forests of Lam Dong, allowing my soul to settle as I reflected on the long year behind me and contemplated the journey ahead.
This year has brought significant changes to Vietnam. The country celebrated 50 years of reunification, but it also faced historic floods. Tourism has soared, with over 21 million international visitors—an all-time high. However, most travelers still flock to well-trodden spots like Nha Trang, Hoi An, and Sa Pa, with few daring to venture beyond their comfort zones.
Challenges and Opportunities in Adventure Tourism
While the influx of tourists is substantial, adventure tourism remains relatively sparse. Attracting people to lesser-known destinations continues to be a challenge. Yet, an article titled "20 Unique Destinations in Vietnam" on Vietnam Coracle has drawn significant interest, indicating a robust desire among many to explore the tranquil and intriguing corners of the country that remain off the beaten path.
Places like Truong Son Dong and the Cham Tower of Duong Long, although familiar, are still largely undiscovered, making the experience of exploring them truly special. To cater to this demand, I launched an offline guide, making it easier for everyone to navigate these areas without needing an internet connection.

Breakthroughs from Vietnam Coracle
The year 2025 marked numerous improvements for Vietnam Coracle. I updated the guide to Truong Son Dong, creating an offline version for easy access anytime. This publication has received positive feedback from readers, serving as a great way to support my work.
Additionally, I contributed chapters on Phu Quoc and Con Dao to the Bradt Guide to Vietnam. I’m also thrilled to welcome new team members, Phuong Le and Martin Misiak, who bring fresh perspectives and energy to the site.
Technology and the Creative Journey
Beyond writing, I’ve started making videos with the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, kicking off with a feature on Tra Su Forest. The use of AI has been intriguing as well; I experimented with a few chatbots regarding the Vietnam Coracle site and received quite positive feedback. However, when it comes to specific travel information, AI still cannot replace the real-life experiences I bring to the table.
Closing the Old Year, Welcoming the New
Finally, while camping under the shade of trees atop Dinh Mountain, I reminisced about the year’s memories and longed for a new year filled with more adventurous travels. Laying amidst the pine trees, listening to the wind rustle and breathing in the fresh air, all my worries melted away.
