Delta has announced its new business class suites for the Airbus A350-1000, set to debut in 2027. Get ready for modern technology and luxurious design.
Impressive Innovations
Recently, I've noticed that several major airlines in the U.S. are significantly upgrading their business class offerings. After American Airlines introduced its Flagship Suite and United Airlines launched the Polaris experience, Delta is also stepping up its game.
The airline has just officially unveiled its new business class product for the upcoming Airbus A350-1000. While United is drawing attention with its enhancements to passenger experience, it’s exciting to see Delta making strides of its own.
About the Airbus A350-1000
Delta has ordered 20 Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, which are expected to become the airline's flagship planes. Not only will these be the largest aircraft in Delta's fleet, but they will also be the most luxuriously configured. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until 2027 to see the first of these planes take to the skies.
Introducing the New Business Class
Delta has confirmed that the upcoming A350-1000s will feature a new generation of business class suites based on the VantageNOVA design by Thompson Aero. The airline has stated that approximately 50% of the seats on the A350-1000 will be premium seats, totaling about 50 business class seats—the most Delta has ever installed on a single aircraft.
While this doesn't quite reach the 64 business class seats found on United's 787-9s, it's still a significant improvement. This makes sense, as Delta has a strong partnership with Thompson Aero for its business class seating.
Comfortable Cabin Layout
The cabin will be designed in a 1-2-1 layout with reverse herringbone seats. This means that the window seats will face the window, while the middle seats will face inward. Although VantageNOVA has yet to enter service, it promises to provide comfort and space for passengers.

Modern Amenities
Delta's new cabin features will include beds that are approximately 3 inches longer than previous products, reaching nearly 80 inches. Each seat will be equipped with a 24-inch 4K screen (the largest among U.S. airlines), Bluetooth connectivity, and various charging ports including USB-A, AC, and wireless charging.
The seats will also have shoe storage and a phone tray on the armrest. Notably, the seats will feature a pillow-top cushion on the memory foam for enhanced comfort. Although Thompson Aero has mentioned the possibility of creating a "business class plus" product, Delta has yet to make an official announcement on this.
Snack Bar
The cabin will include a snack bar at the second door, where passengers can help themselves to drinks and snacks. This addition enhances the overall customer experience during flights.
New Seat Evaluation
Interestingly, American Airlines and United Airlines are also rolling out new business class offerings and have chosen the same seat model—the Elevate Ascent. However, as with many aircraft seats today, there is a lot of customization available for this product.
I find that Delta's new business class seats appear similar to the Elevate Ascent, as both are designed for efficiency. While Delta has opted for a fully reverse herringbone seat layout, it’s still difficult to gauge the comfort of this product since it hasn’t yet been put into service.
The Future of Delta
It seems that business class seating is no longer significantly improving in terms of comfort, but rather relies heavily on whether there are doors and the quality of the seat technology (entertainment screens, charging options, Bluetooth audio, etc.). In summary, Delta has announced its new business class product that will be installed on future A350-1000 aircraft. The airline will be the first customer to utilize Thompson Aero's VantageNOVA product, bringing modern technology from wireless charging to large entertainment screens.
That said, I don’t think this product will stand out particularly in terms of personal space, as no airline has the extra room to increase space for each passenger.
