I’ve stayed at quite a few luxurious places, from tropical beaches to chilly mountain retreats, but Miraval Arizona is something entirely different. It’s not just a place to sleep well and eat delicious food; it’s where you can slow down, challenge yourself, and truly escape the daily grind. Nestled in the Sonoran Desert just outside of Tucson, the scenery alone is enough to soothe your nerves. The hills turn a stunning pink at sunset, the air is warm and dry, and everything is remarkably peaceful.

What Makes Miraval Special

Miraval isn’t your typical resort where you lounge by the pool all day. Here, you’ll find a variety of activities, wellness programs, and outdoor adventures. Each day offers a plethora of choices such as yoga classes, meditation sessions, guided hikes, sound therapy, and many other exciting activities. Some of these are included in your package, while others may require an additional fee or reward points.

Accommodations at Miraval

The rooms at Miraval are simply designed, not overly ornate, yet equipped with everything you need for relaxation. I used points from the Hyatt program to book my stay, plus a little extra from the Hyatt Privé program that many of you may not be aware of. Thanks to this, I received a complimentary room upgrade upon arrival. However, I do wish I had opted for a mountain-view room, as that would have been even more spectacular.

The Stunning Scenery of the Sonoran Desert

The resort is set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Sonoran Desert, with the Santa Catalina Mountains in the distance. Southern Arizona has a pleasant climate in winter and can get extremely hot in summer. I visited in February and encountered a bit of desert rain, but it was minimal and added an interesting twist to the experience.

Many people worry about dining at a wellness resort, imagining tiny portions, but Miraval surprised me with an incredibly delicious dinner. Everything here is refined, from the ingredients to the cooking methods, and it's all very natural without being restrictive.

Spa and Wellness Experiences

The Life in Balance Spa is the highlight of Miraval. Designed with a tranquil atmosphere and views of the desert, it features a pool, a steam room, and a variety of treatment services inspired by different wellness traditions. Even if you don’t book a treatment, just sitting here and relaxing is worth it.

How to Book at Miraval Using Hyatt Points

Using Hyatt points at Miraval offers tremendous value. Packages typically include accommodations, all meals, some wellness activities, and access to the spa. When you combine booking with points and the Hyatt Privé package, the overall experience becomes even more rewarding, especially with the room upgrade I received.

Is Miraval Arizona Worth a Try?

If you’re looking for a traditional luxury resort with nightlife and clubs, this isn’t the ideal spot. But if you want to truly escape the noise, engage in physical activities, learn something new, and leave feeling refreshed, then Miraval is an outstanding choice.
