Discovering Guilin in 5 Days

If you're planning a trip to Guilin, China and don’t know where to start, this guide is just for you! After spending a week exploring Guilin’s stunning scenery, fascinating attractions, and ancient towns along the Li and Yulong Rivers, I've put together an incredibly detailed 5-day itinerary for you.

Day 1: Exploring Guilin City

Your journey begins in Guilin City, where China's high-speed train network makes getting around a breeze. From major cities like Guangzhou, Shenzhen, or Shanghai, you can reach Guilin in just a few hours. Upon arriving at Guilin North Railway Station, you can take public bus #22 to the city center for just 2 CNY, or call a Didi to your hotel.

In the afternoon, I took a leisurely stroll through Seven Star Park, the largest park in Guilin. Here, you'll find cool walking paths, uniquely shaped rock formations, and a stunning cave. It’s a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Day 2: A Trip to Longji Rice Terraces

On the second day, I ventured out to the Longji Rice Terraces, a famous spot located about 2-3 hours' drive from the city. Depending on the season, the scenery here varies. In spring, the terraces are filled with water, while summer brings lush green fields, and autumn dazzles with golden hues.

Even though the sky was cloudy, the golden rice fields still stood out beautifully. The tour group picked me up from my hotel at 7 AM, and about three hours later, we arrived at Longji. On the way, we stopped at Hongyao Village, known for its stilt houses.

Days 3-4: Yangshuo & Ruyi Peak

During the next two days, I explored Yangshuo and Ruyi Peak. The journey was truly breathtaking, with majestic mountains and rivers all around. I stayed in Yangshuo to soak up the vibrant atmosphere. You can take part in adventure activities like cycling or kayaking, which are definitely worth a try!

My accommodation was comfortable, affordable, and conveniently located near key attractions. Be sure to book your stay in advance through sites like Booking.com to secure the best options.

Day 5: Sunset at Xingping Village

The final day was all about watching the sunrise from Xianggong viewpoint and visiting the ancient Xingping Village. The scenery here is simply unforgettable, as the morning sunlight casts a magical glow over the mountains, creating a picture-perfect view. This was one of the most fulfilling moments of my entire trip.

After exploring every nook and cranny of Guilin, I took some time to relax and organize my plans for the next day. It was an experience I will never forget!
