Bermuda is closer to the East Coast of the U.S. than many realize. In less than a two-hour flight from Charlotte, you can find yourself on this beautiful island. As the flight attendants served drinks, I couldn’t help but wonder why I hadn’t visited sooner.

Upon landing, my driver Daren greeted me with a warm smile and the words, "Welcome to Bermuda." It took just 25 minutes to reach Azura Hotel, but Daren transformed this short journey into a delightful tour, sharing the island's rich history and culture, making me feel at home right from the start.

Azura Bermuda Hotel

Opened in 2020, Azura Bermuda is located on the southern coast in Warwick Parish, on the site of the former Surf Side Beach Club. Perched on white limestone cliffs, the hotel boasts a private beach where the ocean water ranges from emerald green to deep blue.

The hotel features a total of 55 rooms, suites, and villas, just a 10-minute drive from Hamilton, Bermuda’s small yet vibrant capital. Upon arrival, I was treated to a signature Bermuda cocktail called rum swizzle—refreshing and invigorating, prompting me to drop my bags and head straight to the pool.

Relaxation at Azura

My Oceanfront room immediately impressed me with its breathtaking ocean views, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling glass doors. The decor was light and airy, featuring white and neutral tones that complemented the stunning seaside scenery. Even the bathroom was designed with glass to maximize the views.

I experienced unforgettable moments watching whales from my balcony. Initially, I couldn’t believe it was possible, but on the second day, I witnessed that beautiful sight firsthand.

Activities at Azura

The hotel boasts multiple swimming pools, but my favorite was the Ocean Pool, which feels very much in tune with nature and offers expansive sea views. This pool is carved into the cliffside and uses ocean water that is slightly warmer. Besides the main pool, there's the Terrace, a popular spot during the day, the Sky Pool featuring free yoga classes on Saturday mornings, and the Palm Pool located near the gym.

The wellness center is also expanding, but many treatments are currently offered right in your room. I enjoyed a relaxing massage while listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean, which helped me forget all my worries.

Culinary Delights at Azura

The SURF restaurant was where I enjoyed meals throughout my stay. Breakfast was served right next to the pool, featuring dishes like eggs Benedict and fresh fruit. Lunch was casual with sandwiches and salads, while dinner was a delightful experience with a tasting menu that included exquisite halibut and freshly made pastries, especially the memorable lemon mille-feuille.

Exploring Beyond the Hotel

Bermuda offers much more than just Azura. Crystal Caves is a famous cave system with crystal-clear lakes and stunning stalactites. Café Olé serves the best fish sandwiches I’ve ever had, and Horseshoe Bay is renowned for its unique pink sand beach. Don’t forget to visit Gibbs Hill Lighthouse—one of the oldest lighthouses in the world, offering breathtaking coastal views.

Useful Information for Vietnamese Travelers

To reach Bermuda, you can fly from Ho Chi Minh City (SGN) or Hanoi (HAN) with connecting flights, typically costing around 20-25 million VND for a round trip. Regarding visas, Vietnamese citizens need to apply for a visa beforehand, with a fee of approximately 1 million VND and a processing time of about 5-7 days.

Consider the best time to visit; the peak tourist season in Bermuda is from May to October when the weather is warm and outdoor activities abound.
