Madagascar – A Challenge for the Adventurous
In 2025, I set foot in Madagascar, a place where everything exceeded my wildest expectations: it was more beautiful, more rugged, and infinitely more intriguing. This island is not for the faint-hearted. The roads are the definition of “off the beaten path,” and clean restrooms are a rare find. But if you’re on the hunt for a genuine adventure, this is the paradise you’ve been looking for!
Madagascar brought back memories of my college days spent on spontaneous road trips. I joined a tour with Rock My Adventure, and it felt amazing to have everything organized from A to Z. That said, we almost got caught up in some serious unrest in the capital, Antananarivo. Thankfully, we stayed safe, and every experience was worth it!
Unique Experiences in Madagascar
The highlight of my trip was a three-day boat journey down the Tsiribihina River – a wild and challenging expedition. Meeting local people, especially the children in small villages, was an unforgettable experience. And let’s not forget the adorable flying foxes at the Black Lemur Sanctuary on Nosy Komba!

The trek to explore Grand Tsingy was equally impressive. You truly feel small standing before those gigantic rock formations, and there’s nothing like the sense of pride that comes after conquering such challenging paths.
Getting to Madagascar
To reach Madagascar, you must fly. Air France offers flights from Paris to Antananarivo, or you can catch a flight from Réunion or Mauritius. Several African airlines also have routes to this destination. While the journey can be a bit tricky, reaching this incredible place will not disappoint you!
More Than Just Madagascar
In 2025, I also explored several new countries like Mauritius, Barbados, and St. Lucia. Each place had its own unique charm, but Madagascar truly stood out for me. It felt like I was reconnecting with my youthful spirit, discovering places I once thought were unreachable.
My plan for 2026 is to continue uncovering new destinations, and I’m plotting a return trip to Madagascar in October. Who wants to join me?
