Introduction to Tian Tian Fa
If you find yourself in Singapore and craving some delightful street food, Tian Tian Fa at Toa Payoh Lorong 8 Market is a must-visit spot. This small eatery is well-known for its Chai Tow Kway (fried carrot cake) and a host of other delicious offerings. Best of all, the prices are incredibly reasonable, starting at just 5 SGD for a generous plate of Chai Tow Kway, which is about 90,000 VND.
Operating Hours and Location
Tian Tian Fa is open from 6 AM to midnight, but hours can vary based on the mood of the two individuals running the stall. If you plan to visit, it's wise to check ahead to avoid any surprises.
Signature Dishes
During my visit, I sampled several dishes at Tian Tian Fa. First up was the Black Fried Carrot Cake. This dish was perfectly prepared, boasting a balanced flavor that wasn’t overly rich. The main ingredients, including radish cake, eggs, and cai po, harmoniously combined to ensure it wasn't overwhelming.
The Flavor of Oyster Omelette
The second dish I tried was the Oyster Omelette. I was a bit disappointed as the oysters weren't as fresh as I had hoped. While the egg was crispy and tasty, the flavor of the oysters was somewhat bland. The accompanying chili sauce was sweet rather than spicy, which might not suit everyone's palate.
Review of Fried Kway Teow
Lastly, I tried the Fried Kway Teow. Despite being stir-fried with various seasonings, I found this dish lacking in flavor compared to the fried carrot cake. The mung beans and other ingredients didn’t offer anything particularly special and fell short compared to the other dishes.
