With around 130 residents, Gimmelwald is small enough that the community relies on Lauterbrunnen for education and shopping. It maintains its tranquility largely due to the luck and determination of its people to preserve their cultural identity.

Andermatt: The Perfect Spot for Ski Enthusiasts
Don't miss: The Schöllenen Gorge, which is a short walk from the village center. This gorge cuts through the rock beneath Andermatt and features the Devil's Bridge, an ancient stone bridge spanning the Reuss River.
Where to stay: The Chedi Andermatt, the first 5-star hotel to open here in 2013, remains the best place to stay in town. If you prefer to stay in a quaint village setting, Hotel Sonne is a charming option that is highly favored.

Wengen: A Skiing Paradise
Don't miss: The Lauberhorn races, held every January since 1930. This course is the longest in the World Cup circuit, attracting around 70,000 spectators each year. Outside of January, you can ski on this very racecourse when the racing season ends.
Where to stay: The Grand Hotel Belvedere is currently the best accommodation in Wengen, featuring a beautifully renovated Art Nouveau building.
