Ireland is a captivating country with charming corners waiting to be discovered. From towering cliffs along the coast to ancient libraries, join me in exploring these amazing destinations!

Visiting Ireland: A Truly Enchanting Destination

I fell in love with Ireland the very first time I visited, 18 years ago. Initially, I had planned just a short getaway, but I was so captivated that I never wanted to leave. The country boasts breathtaking landscapes, from gigantic cliffs by the sea to walking paths that make you feel as if you’re strolling on the moon.

The Key to an Unforgettable Trip

The essence of an exciting trip in Ireland lies in spontaneity. You might drive through the Ring of Kerry in an afternoon, but you’d miss out on incredible moments, like dipping your toes into the icy waters of the Atlantic, savoring creamy chowder in a cozy pub, or chatting with locals about hidden gems.

The Untamed Coastline

Giant’s Causeway is perhaps the most famous site in Northern Ireland, but it’s certainly not the only one worthy of a visit. Embark on a road trip along the Causeway Coast, a 120-mile route stretching from Belfast to Derry. Stop by the Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, where you can walk hundreds of feet above the turbulent sea, then explore the Victorian cliff walk at The Gobbins or venture to the gothic ruins of Dunluce Castle, which looks like it could tumble into the sea at any moment.

The Long Room at Trinity College

The Long Room at Trinity College is an unmissable destination, even though it’s always bustling with visitors. This library, built in the 18th century, features unique architecture, a vaulted ceiling, and two stories of bookshelves made from dark oak, all enveloped in the characteristic scent of wood and leather-bound books. Be aware that the library will close for renovations at the end of 2027 for three years, so plan your visit accordingly.

Discovering Burren

Burren offers an unimaginable beauty that defines Ireland. Here, the limestone landscape resembles solidified lava, with cracks in the rock where rare orchids bloom during wildflower season. Don’t forget to hike the Lough Avalla Farm Loop to take in its stunning beauty and stop by Lough Avalla farmhouse for a slice of homemade apple pie and a lovely cup of tea.

The Slea Head Drive

Slea Head Drive is one of the most magnificent roads in Ireland. This 30-mile route is not only fantastic for driving but also perfect for cycling, especially if you rent an electric bike. The road winds through rugged terrain, passing 6th-century forts, beehive-shaped huts, and sheep farms. Along the way, you’ll be treated to stunning coastal views, like at Dunquin Pier, where a stone path leads down to the turquoise waters and two triangular peaks rise nearby.

The Cliffs of Moher

If you visit the Cliffs of Moher on a sunny day, the beauty will take your breath away. The cliffs stretch along the western coast, where the massive waves of the Atlantic crash down 700 feet below. You can walk two miles along the cliff tops, and the further you venture from the visitor center, the more spectacular the views become.

A Journey Full of Wonders

The joy I find in Ireland goes beyond its stunning landscapes. I’ve made many new friends, experienced the local culture, and savored delicious cuisine. That’s why each time I return, it feels like I’m discovering a brand new land. The food, the people, and the scenery create a magical journey that I’ll never forget.
