What Makes Trastevere So Special?
Situated on the banks of the Tiber River, south of the Vatican, Trastevere has been home to many immigrants and artisans since ancient times, creating a vibrant and diverse community. Over the years, it has evolved into a cultural gem, boasting cobblestone alleys and medieval buildings. If you want to soak in the beauty of both the old and the young, take a few hours to wander around Trastevere before or after your class.
The Pasta-Making Class in Trastevere
When you visit the registration website, the bold phrase “All the pasta and wine one could ever want” immediately catches your eye. If that doesn’t convince you, perhaps you’re not a fan of pasta or wine! The class not only teaches you how to make pasta but also lets you sample the best porchetta and gelato in Rome. Classes are held daily, except for Sundays, at 10 AM and 4:30 PM. I recommend opting for the afternoon session so you can enjoy the evening charm of Trastevere.
Starting with Porchetta, Cheese, and Wine
Before diving into the pasta-making, our guide Davide took us to a cheese and meat shop that has been around since 1924 to pick up ingredients and taste the famous porchetta. This savory roasted pork, seasoned with herbs, is a popular street food in Rome. Paired with Parmigiano Reggiano and Pecorino Romano cheese, along with a glass of red wine, it was the perfect way to kick off our culinary adventure.
Making Pasta and Sharing Heartfelt Stories
When it was time to get hands-on with the pasta, we moved to a restaurant equipped with all the necessary tools.
