This year, World of Hyatt is set to undergo significant changes, with new programs and more exciting ways to earn points. Let's explore the wishes from Hyatt enthusiasts.
A Year of Transformation for World of Hyatt
This year, the World of Hyatt program will see major changes, starting in May when the point redemption rates for stays at popular Hyatt hotels will increase. According to TPG, the award chart will become more complex as Hyatt introduces a new five-tier award system: Lowest, Low, Medium, High, and Highest, replacing the current three-tier system.
There is much speculation among points and miles enthusiasts that even bigger changes may be on the horizon following a survey sent to select World of Hyatt members, asking for feedback on the program. While there’s been no comment on these speculations, let’s take a look at the changes that two Hyatt fans at TPG are eager to see.
Improving How We Earn World of Hyatt Points
Accumulating World of Hyatt points is no easy feat. We’re hoping for more ways to earn these points, especially with the rising point redemption costs. The reality is that you don’t earn many points from your stays. We were quite disappointed to see Hyatt end its partnership with American Airlines, as we used to earn both AAdvantage and Hyatt points from American flights.
There are options like transferring points from Chase or Bilt. The transfer ratio between Chase Ultimate Rewards and World of Hyatt is 1:1 and typically happens instantly. The same goes for transfers from Bilt, which also operates at a 1:1 ratio and is usually instant. We also hope Hyatt could partner with cruise lines like Celebrity Cruises or Viking, creating more options for customers.

Enhancing the Value of Free Night Awards
The value of free night awards has diminished over time. Hyatt offers various awards such as Category 1-4, Category 1-7, Miraval awards, and the Ultimate Free Night Award. However, an increasing number of Hyatt hotels are moving up to Category 5 and beyond, which is reducing the value of these awards.
We hope Hyatt will allow us to “top up” points or cash on these certificates, enabling us to use them at better hotels. Perhaps this could be a perk for Explorist members or higher.
Combining Multiple Milestone Awards in One Stay
Currently, you cannot use multiple Milestone Awards for a single stay. We would like to see Hyatt allow the combination of these awards, such as pairing a suite upgrade award with a free night award. Additionally, expanding the ability to use suite upgrade awards at more hotels would also be welcomed.
Point Redemptions During Peak Times
Finally, we want to see a mechanism that allows for reduced point costs during peak times for loyal members. Hyatt previously had a three-tier pricing structure, but starting May 2026, this will increase to five tiers, including the Highest tier, which could raise costs by 67% for rooms at luxury hotels.
A potential solution could be to allow Globalist members the option to use Milestone Rewards to waive these increased point costs for a few bookings throughout the year, as a gesture of appreciation from Hyatt for their most loyal customers.
