From Travel Hobby to a Life-Changing Journey
Everything began in 2008 when I made the bold decision to leave my job as a lawyer to pursue my passion for travel. Initially, I planned to travel for just a year, but little did I know that this journey would unfold into a tapestry of unforgettable stories. As my blog, Legal Nomads, grew, I made the choice to keep it ad-free because I wanted to preserve the reading experience, just as I appreciate an uninterrupted journey myself.
From CNN Front Page to Unexpected Health Struggles
At the end of 2021, CNN featured my story, detailing my transition from a travel blogger and food enthusiast to someone bedridden due to a cerebrospinal fluid leak. This was a condition I had never heard of before. Writing about this experience was incredibly challenging, but I hoped to shed light on it for others. As a result, CNN placed my story on their front page for an entire weekend, leading to an outpouring of support from those who found themselves in similar situations.
Adopting a Lemur and Building the Legal Nomads Community
This year, I came up with a new idea: adopting a lemur from the Duke Lemur Center. Lemurs are one of my favorite animals, and even though this is a symbolic adoption, it has brought unexpected joy to both me and the Legal Nomads community. Many of my readers joined in, and now we have two new lemurs to follow, complete with exciting updates about their lives.

Joining a Research Council and Relocating to Ottawa
On top of that, I have joined the advisory council of the CSF Leak Organization, where I help amplify the voices of patients in research discussions. This role allows me to continue giving back to the community. Last month, I relocated to Ottawa, bringing me closer to family and into a space that better accommodates my health needs.
Life for me now still comes with its limitations. Sometimes, even a simple walk feels like a luxury, but I find joy in soaking up the beautiful autumn scenery around me. Each day, I learn to cherish the little things, and I remain hopeful that I can continue to write and share more stories in the future.
