Reflections on Cruising
"After that research trip, I joined my in-laws on two more cruises, as they are big fans of cruising. One trip to Alaska with Regent Seven Seas Cruises was amazing, and I recommended it to everyone, even those hesitant about traveling by ship. Last summer, we enjoyed a trip around the British Isles, which was also beautiful. I realized that the ideal journey is one that takes you to places hard to reach by land, offering a close encounter with nature.
Writing While Traveling
Recently, my life has been very busy, and I find myself writing just about anywhere. In the past, I was picky about my workspace, but now, as long as I’m alert and able to work, whether on a plane or a train, I can get my tasks done.
The Joy of Traveling with Kids
Having taken my children on flights since they were little, I’ve noticed a significant difference as they’ve grown. Now, when we travel internationally, my kids are old enough to manage their luggage, find their own food, and even skip nap time. That pressure is gone, and it’s wonderful.
Most Memorable Vacation
A trip to Florence, Rome, and Venice stands out as one of my most cherished memories. Not only was I excited, but my kids were thrilled as well; we walked for hours and enjoyed fantastic meals. For me, Italy is the heart of joy in the universe, and traveling there with my children was truly an unforgettable experience.

Favorite Cities on the Book Tour
Every time I go on a book tour, I can’t wait to explore new cities. This time, I was particularly excited to return to Seattle after many years. I love Los Angeles for its delicious food and the friends I have there. Miami is also one of my favorites, especially "Books & Books," which I always visit.
My Home Away From Home
I adore hotels, especially those with spacious beds. A good bed and clean linens are crucial for me. Additionally, if there’s quality shampoo and body wash available, I’m known to bring empty bottles to fill them up. I can never resist those Diptyque products!
Independent Bookstores Worth Visiting
One of the coolest bookstores I know is White Whale in Pittsburgh, a city not well-known but rich in art and cuisine. In Los Angeles, Skylight Books features a large tree growing in the middle of the store, which is truly unique.
My Current Travel Style
I love cool seaside towns in the winter, as I’m not a fan of heat and sand. A recent trip to North Fork, Long Island in winter was a delightful experience. We mostly stayed indoors, reading books and taking long walks on the beach in warm coats.
Dream Destinations for the Future
I genuinely want to visit India. I adore Indian art, architecture, and cuisine. I've been waiting for an opportunity to experience it, and I might just invite myself soon!
