I love exploring new eateries based on recommendations from friends. When a friend suggested Say Yes Cafe in Damansara Uptown, I was thrilled. This cafe has been praised for its nasi lemak, with some even claiming it’s better than the offerings at Village Park Restaurant and Nasi Lemak Bumbung.

Discover Say Yes Cafe

I love exploring new eateries based on recommendations from friends. When a friend suggested Say Yes Cafe in Damansara Uptown, I was thrilled. This cafe has been praised for its nasi lemak, with some even claiming it’s better than the offerings at Village Park Restaurant and Nasi Lemak Bumbung.

Finding parking in Damansara Uptown can be a challenge, but luckily Say Yes Cafe is conveniently located near Village Park Restaurant and Hot Bird. This charming little spot is nestled between a bak kut teh shop and a Perodua dealership, giving it a cozy vibe.

When my friend and I arrived at the cafe, the lunch rush was just beginning. We managed to snag a table for two under a refreshing fan. The ambiance at Say Yes Cafe is quite pleasant, with light blue walls that evoke the charm of classic cafes from years past.

Unique Menu

After browsing the menu, I noticed they only offer three main dishes: Nasi Lemak, Pulut, and Chee Cheong Fun. I was excited to order the Nasi Lemak Rendang Daging (RM11) along with a Teh Ping (RM3.90), and within just 5 minutes, our food arrived.

The dish was highlighted by fragrant coconut rice, a boiled egg, slices of cucumber, roasted peanuts, and a generous spoonful of sambal. Best of all, there was a plate of rendang daging with a rich sauce that made my mouth water.

The meat from the rendang was incredibly tender and easy to chew, and the sauce had a perfect balance of salty and mildly spicy flavors. This combination made my taste buds explode with delight. Mixing the sambal with the rice, I first tasted the sweetness, followed by a gentle heat that paired perfectly with the nasi lemak.

Natural Drinks

The Teh Ping was just what I expected from a kopitiam, with a harmonious blend of sugar, tea, and ice. It truly made for an ideal sidekick to my Nasi Lemak Rendang Daging, allowing me to enjoy my meal faster than my friend!

As for my friend’s order, he opted for Roti Bakar with butter and kaya (RM3) along with a Cham Ping (RM4.30). His dish arrived a bit later, and I could see a mix of emotions on his face. He praised the crispy toast but lamented the small amount of butter and kaya.

He mentioned that the butter was only in the center, leaving the edges bland, while the middle had too much butter. While I don’t mind letting butter melt and spreading it evenly on my toast, I don’t often indulge in Roti Bakar, so I left it to my friend to judge.

Final Thoughts

Say Yes Cafe is truly a noteworthy alternative to Village Park Restaurant, especially with its impressive nasi lemak. However, with a limited menu, I think it’s more suited for afternoon tea or a quick meal. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here and will definitely return to try more dishes!
