Paris Van Java - A Slice of Indonesia in Orchard

I recently stumbled upon an amazing eatery right in the heart of Orchard - Paris Van Java. Located in the Lucky Plaza shopping mall, this spot serves authentic Indonesian dishes that are sure to impress.

I was curious to see if this restaurant could match the authentic Indonesian cuisine I enjoyed during my recent travels. My criteria for Indonesian food are spice levels, portion sizes, and of course, flavor.

Modern and Clean Ambiance

Paris Van Java is situated next to Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut, a popular spot known for its budget-friendly meals. The restaurant boasts a bright, modern, and spacious interior. With light wood furnishings and a white color palette, it resembles those trendy minimalist cafes that young people love.

Menu Highlights and Specialties

The menu features two main noodle options: Baso Yamien Manis and Baso Yamien Asian, catering to your sweet or savory preferences. I opted for the Baso Yamien Manis along with Nasi Goreng Kampung, as I have a sweet tooth.

The Baso Yamien Manis comes with two separate bowls: dry noodles and beef balls served in a light broth. The noodles are coated with a sweet kecap manis sauce mixed with fried shallot oil, enhancing the overall flavor. The dish may look simple, but it’s incredibly delicious, thanks to the fresh onions and bean sprouts that keep it light.

Next up was the Nasi Goreng Kampung - a classic fried rice dish featuring a generous piece of chicken, fried egg, and keropok on top. The fragrant garlic and shallot aroma is incredibly addictive, and the chicken is perfectly fried to a golden crisp, tender and sweet on the inside. My only complaint is that the plate was a bit small, making it easy for some of the food to spill over.

A Wonderful Experience

Both dishes came with chili sauce, but I preferred the spiciness of the sauce with the fried rice. It created a delightful blend of spicy, sweet, and salty flavors. If the fried egg had a runny yolk, it would have made the experience even more enjoyable!

Conclusion

I was pleasantly surprised by the food preparation at Paris Van Java and the excellent service. The staff were very friendly, and the ambiance is perfect for anyone passing through Orchard.
