Discovering Exquisite Thai Flavors in the Heart of Bangkok

If you’re a fan of Thai cuisine, you absolutely cannot miss the incredible restaurants in Bangkok this year. The city never ceases to amaze with its tempting and intriguing dishes. After several years of living here, I still feel like there’s so much more to discover.

Many Thai restaurants in Bangkok have left a strong impression on me with their signature spicy flavors. But don’t worry, if you’re not used to spicy food, you can still find milder options. Let’s explore together!

Pla Mae Nam - The Taste of the River

While wandering around the area, I stumbled upon Pla Mae Nam. This restaurant looks like a large wooden house, and just from the outside, I knew it would be a dining spot worth trying.

Pla Mae Nam specializes in dishes made from freshwater fish and wild ingredients. The jungle curry (แกงป่า) and spicy catfish stir-fry (ผัดเผ็ดปลาเค้า) are my absolute favorites. The prices here are quite reasonable, ranging from 100 to 300 baht per person.

Panya Seafood - Bangkok’s Seafood Paradise

Panya Seafood is renowned not only for its fresh seafood but also for other delightful southern Thai dishes. One exciting dish to try is their incredibly spicy fish stomach curry. Don’t forget to sample the southern sour turmeric curry and fermented shrimp with stinky beans while you’re there!

The restaurant also offers 'frost beer' - with beer chilled to perfection, it’s the ideal way to cool down from the heat of the spicy food. A meal here typically costs between 200 and 400 baht per person.

Sorn - An Impressive Michelin Star Restaurant

At Sorn, you’ll experience the essence of southern Thai cuisine in an elegant setting. This restaurant opened in 2018 and immediately earned a prestigious Michelin star.

With a comprehensive and diverse set menu, dishes are served in the traditional Thai family-sharing style. Although the price is on the higher side at 2900 baht per person, the quality will surely leave you satisfied.

Ba Chao Jungle Food - A Sensory Challenge

If you’re curious about jungle cuisine, Ba Chao Jungle Food is a must-visit. This restaurant features unique ingredients like eel, deer, and quail, often served with a spicy and rich flavor profile.

The spicy stir-fried deer and fish fried in chuchee curry are two unforgettable dishes. With prices ranging from 200 to 400 baht, you’ll have the chance to sample exciting jungle fare in the heart of the city.

Kuay Teow Khae - Noodle Heaven in Silom

Kuay Teow Khae is a famous noodle shop located in the bustling Silom area, particularly crowded at lunchtime. I always opt for the special dry mixed noodles, topped with a variety of enticing ingredients like meatballs, ribs, and crispy pork skin.

This is truly a mouthwatering street food experience for just 60 baht. It’s an unmissable treat when visiting Bangkok.

Som Tam – Traditional Flavors

This small som tam shop is set outdoors, with tables shaded under cool trees. The owner has been serving som tam for over 30 years, and each serving of papaya salad is exceptionally high quality.

With prices ranging from 40 to 100 baht, you can enjoy dishes like laab and tom saeb, all bursting with the rich flavors of fermented fish sauce.
