Experience Flying with Porter Airlines: An Exciting Journey from Fort Lauderdale to Montreal

I recently had a delightful flight with Porter Airlines from Fort Lauderdale (FLL) to Montreal (YUL). This airline is one of the fastest-growing in Canada, boasting a fleet of Embraer E195-E2 aircraft.

When I first heard about Porter, I was intrigued as they are in fierce competition with Air Canada. Their PorterReserve product offers a unique experience unlike any other service.

Booking and Pricing

I used my Alaska Airlines rewards points to book my ticket. It only cost me 10,000 points plus a $5.60 tax fee for this flight. If you’re not using points, the fare is roughly $182 for the PorterClassic service, while PorterReserve is priced at around $300, which is quite reasonable.

Check-in and Boarding Process

I checked in online and headed straight to gate E9, which was super convenient. Upon arrival, I was met with a long line of passengers waiting to board. However, those traveling with PorterReserve were invited to board first, giving them a nice priority.

In-Flight Space and Seating

The Embraer E195-E2 features a total of 132 seats arranged in a comfortable 2-2 configuration, eliminating the middle seat. The PorterReserve service offers about 16 seats with extra legroom, making me feel like I was in my own private space.

The seats here have a generous 36-inch pitch, which is much better than many other airlines. I really appreciated not having to sit next to someone, and I even enjoyed a whole row to myself!

Onboard Amenities

While there isn’t a TV at your seat, Porter smartly provides free Wi-Fi for VIPorter program members. I signed up and found the connection to be quite stable throughout the flight.

There aren't many other amenities onboard, but they do serve snacks and drinks that are a step above standard economy class. The menu was distributed before takeoff, adding a touch of professionalism and attentive service.

Overall Impressions

The flight was quite smooth, despite the number of passengers on board. As we approached takeoff, I was filled with excitement. The flight lasted 3 hours and 15 minutes, and it was wonderful to watch the blue sky unfold outside my window.

Overall, I highly value my experience with Porter Airlines. If given the chance, I would definitely choose to fly with them again. Their reasonable pricing, excellent service, and comfortable space made for a truly relaxing journey.
