Luxurious Experience at the Ritz-Carlton Bangkok

I recently traveled to Bangkok and chose to stay at the Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, which just opened its doors at the end of 2024. This hotel is one of the most luxurious additions by Marriott in the city. Even though I only stayed for one night, I booked a club room to indulge in all the amenities the hotel has to offer.

Overall, my experience at Ritz-Carlton Bangkok was truly wonderful—while it wasn’t a life-changing event, it certainly is a luxurious hotel worth visiting amid the abundance of options in the area.

Booking & Costs

I paid in cash for one night at the Ritz-Carlton Bangkok, opting for a club room that cost about $100 more than the standard room. The room rate is around $650, but thanks to a $300 hotel credit from Amex, I only needed to spend $350.

By booking through the Amex FHR program, I enjoyed several perks such as complimentary breakfast, room upgrades, and a $100 credit. If you prefer to pay in cash, the best option is to book through the Marriott STARS program, which also offers great perks and sometimes promotional rates.

Hotel Location

The Ritz-Carlton Bangkok is situated in the One Bangkok area on Wireless Road, close to Lumphini Park. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this location, but personally, I found it quite fine. The hotel is very close to the MRT station, and taxis and rideshare services are reasonably priced in Bangkok.

One thing to note is that only one side of the hotel offers beautiful views, while the other directions may not meet expectations.

Arrival at the Hotel

Upon arriving at the Ritz-Carlton in the afternoon, the welcome experience was impeccable. I had arranged for an airport transfer for just over $100 and was able to use my $100 credit for this service. As soon as I stepped into the hotel, a staff member greeted me and took me directly to my room for a seamless check-in.

The hotel has a reception area on the ground floor, from which I took an elevator up to the lobby located on the seventh floor. The lobby is spacious and exudes luxury.

Accommodations

I was assigned a room on the 23rd floor, which has a lounge for club guests. After exiting the elevator, I turned right, and my room was at the end of the left corridor. Although I booked a club king room, I was upgraded to a room with a balcony as a reward for my membership status.

This room is approximately 50 square meters, featuring a king-size bed, a dining table for two, and a cozy window seat. The room feels airy, with a minibar stocked with complimentary Nespresso coffee and various drinks, along with a convenient Japanese-style toilet.

Room Amenities

The bathroom is quite spacious, complete with a bathtub, shower, and two sinks. The toiletries are from Diptyque, one of my favorite brands. I was also welcomed with a gift in the room, including fresh fruit, chocolates, and a bottle of prosecco.

Each morning, I enjoyed complimentary coffee or tea served right in my room, which was a delightful service that saved me from having to call for a wake-up. The room also includes two complimentary ironing services each day, though I didn’t require this service.

Minor Issues

Despite the many positives, I felt the room's construction quality could use some improvement. Sounds from the hallway were quite audible, and it seemed some materials were not invested in adequately. This is something I often notice in hotels in Bangkok—they can be glossy on the outside, but lack sturdiness inside.

Pool & Other Amenities

The hotel features an outdoor pool located on a lower level, providing a relaxing space for guests. However, I didn't have the time to try the pool, but I’ve heard it is of good quality.

My experience at the Ritz-Carlton Bangkok truly left an impression on me, from the service to the amenities, despite some areas needing improvement. Nonetheless, I will surely remember this trip!
