Canada Tulip Festival, Ottawa

When you think of tulips, the Netherlands might spring to mind, but Ottawa offers its own stunning showcase. Each May, millions of vibrant tulips bloom, adorning parks and waterfront pathways in a kaleidoscope of colors—red, yellow, purple, orange, and more.

This beautiful tradition dates back to 1945, when the Dutch royal family sent thousands of tulip bulbs to Canada as a thank-you for sheltering them during the war. The Canada Tulip Festival takes place from May 8 to 18 at Commissioners Park and along Dow's Lake, where you can stroll through endless rows of colorful blooms.

The festival features a variety of activities, including music, art displays, and nighttime illuminations, with a spectacular fireworks and drone show on the evening of May 18.
