Canada Tulip Festival, Ottawa
When you think of tulips, the Netherlands might spring to mind, but Ottawa offers its own stunning showcase. Each May, millions of vibrant tulips bloom, adorning parks and waterfront pathways in a kaleidoscope of colors—red, yellow, purple, orange, and more.
This beautiful tradition dates back to 1945, when the Dutch royal family sent thousands of tulip bulbs to Canada as a thank-you for sheltering them during the war. The Canada Tulip Festival takes place from May 8 to 18 at Commissioners Park and along Dow's Lake, where you can stroll through endless rows of colorful blooms.
The festival features a variety of activities, including music, art displays, and nighttime illuminations, with a spectacular fireworks and drone show on the evening of May 18. If you’re looking to unwind, the iconic Fairmont Chateau Laurier hotel, nestled next to Parliament Hill and the Rideau Canal, is the perfect place to relax.
Jacaranda Blooms, Mexico City
Every spring, the jacaranda trees in Mexico City burst into vibrant purple blooms, creating a scene reminiscent of Japan's cherry blossom festivals. In fact, these beautiful trees were brought to the city by a Japanese gardener in the 1920s.
Though there isn’t an official festival, from mid-March to April, the streets lined with jacaranda flowers transform into a picturesque setting perfect for leisurely strolls, photography, and picnics. Don’t miss the lush Condesa neighborhood and Parque Mexico for some of the best views of these stunning blossoms.
If you want to see even more flowers, head to Chapultepec Park, one of the city’s green lungs, sprawling over 1,700 acres. The Andaz Mexico City Condesa hotel offers a wonderful retreat with a rooftop pool overlooking the tree-lined streets.
Portland Rose Festival, Oregon

This year, one of the main attractions will be the CareOregon Grand Floral Starlight Parade, which kicks off with flower floats and marching bands in the evening, transitioning to illuminated floats as night falls.
The Nines hotel, located in the historic Meier & Frank building, is one of the city’s most luxurious accommodations, with room rates starting at $265 per night in May.
Feria de Patios, Cordoba, Spain
Cordoba, famously known as the City of Flowers, hosts the Feria de Patios from May 4 to 17. The festival begins with a flower-filled parade and then shifts focus to traditional homes featuring pristine courtyards adorned with vibrant geraniums, carnations, and jasmine.
Visitors are invited to explore the open doors of these homes and vote for the most beautiful patios. The festival also showcases flamenco performances and the city’s delicious culinary specialties.
The NH Collection Palacio de Cordoba, recently renovated, has transformed into a premium retreat, blending historic charm with modern amenities. Room rates start at $208 per night.
