When you visit, you won't just be enjoying the famous dry noodles; you'll also have the chance to meet the woman who runs the shop, always present to serve customers directly. The owner and staff are known for their friendliness and hospitality. Pay attention to her natural demeanor and her expert cooking skills as she prepares your meal.

Signature Dishes

When at Yong Xin, the must-try dish is the famous dry noodles (6 SGD for a small bowl, 7 SGD for a large). You can choose from various types of noodles like mee kia, mee pok, kway teow, and mee sua. I opted for a small bowl with mee pok, topped with minced meat, pork, liver, two meatballs, two fish balls, a few slices of fish cake, and a piece of chive dumpling.

Delicious Flavors

The noodles are cooked to perfection—not too hard and not too soft. The flavors of the shallot oil and chili are well-infused into every strand of noodle. This dish is truly an exciting experience, and I could even taste the crispiness of the well-fried pork fat, making it incredibly delectable.

Other Dishes at Yong Xin

In addition to the dry noodles, I also tried the minced meat noodles (5 SGD for a small bowl, 6 SGD for a large). This noodle soup dish is packed with ingredients like fish balls, minced meat, and fish cake. The broth is just right—light and suitable for chilly days. However, I found the soup had a slight alkaline taste from the noodles, which wasn’t to my liking.

Vermicelli Dry: A New Discovery

Next, I tried the dry vermicelli (5 SGD for a small bowl, 6 SGD for a large), which turned out to be a memorable experience. The thin vermicelli easily absorbs the flavors of the chili, making the dish more distinctive. This dish truly turned me into a fan!

Tips for Visiting Yong Xin

Despite the many fans of Yong Xin, I highly recommend trying it at least once if you find yourself in Ang Mo Kio. Arrive early to avoid disappointment, as their dishes often sell out by around 1:30 PM. If you see others lined up, feel free to say hello!
