I had the opportunity to visit the Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge of Thai Airways at Bangkok Airport. Let's explore the space and services offered here!
Introduction to Thai Airways Lounge
During my journey to Bangkok, I had the chance to stop by the Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge of Thai Airways at Bangkok Airport. Opened in late 2019, this lounge is one of the airline's most luxurious spaces. While it may not be the most impressive lounge in the world, I found it to be a wonderful spot to relax before my flight.
Location and Lounge Space
The lounge is conveniently located in the international concourse D, right next to gate D4, making it very easy to find. Notably, it connects with the Royal Silk Lounge, allowing for seamless movement between the two spaces. This convenience made it easy for me to enjoy the services of both lounges.
Opening Hours and Visitor Traffic
The Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge is open daily from 5 AM to 2 AM the following morning. This can be slightly inconvenient compared to many other lounges at the airport that operate 24/7. However, the lounge's visitor traffic varies; it tends to be crowded during peak hours like late evenings and early mornings, while it is quite spacious during lunchtime.
Access Requirements
Business class passengers on Thai Airways flights and those from other airlines within the Star Alliance are granted access to the lounge. However, business class passengers are not allowed to bring guests, while Star Alliance Gold members can bring one friend along.

Layout and Design
The lounge spans approximately 2,089 square meters, accommodating up to 463 guests. The layout runs along a main corridor, which can feel a bit cramped when the lounge is busy. Most of the seating is to the right of the entrance, with a small additional bar area on the left.
Seating and Work Areas
Inside the lounge, you'll find seating areas with friendly purple and light pink chairs arranged in rows. Although there are plenty of power outlets available for charging devices, I noticed that some of them were not functional.
Dining Area
When it comes to food and beverages, the Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge offers a fairly diverse selection of both Asian and Western dishes. The food stations are well-organized to prevent crowding. I was quite impressed with the quality of the food here; it was noticeably better than many other airport lounges.
Overall Assessment
Overall, this lounge provides a beautiful and pleasant space, but I felt it lacks some amenities, such as relaxation areas or entertainment rooms. Additionally, the Wi-Fi service here is not the best, especially during peak hours.
Conclusion
The Royal Orchid Prestige Lounge of Thai Airways at Bangkok Airport offers a cozy experience, though there are areas for improvement. While it may not be the top lounge, if you're looking for a place to unwind before your flight, it remains a solid choice.
